This policy explains how the DubaiRelator app for iPhone and Android (“DubaiRelator”, “the app”) handles personal data. DubaiRelator shows estimated Dubai real-estate prices on buildings using augmented reality.
Who is responsible for your data
DubaiRelator is operated by us (“we”, “us”). We are the controller of the personal data described in this policy. Contact: contact@dubairelator.com.
The short version
- An account is optional. Everything in the app works without one. If you sign in, we store your email, name (if provided), a user ID and your saved buildings so they follow you to other devices. You can delete the account in the app at any time.
- Your location and camera are processed on your device. The app does not send your location or camera images to us.
- No advertising, no selling of personal data, no tracking across other apps or websites.
- Service providers in the United States process limited account, subscription and app-update data (see “International transfers”).
Information we handle
Location. With your permission (the iOS or Android system prompt), the app uses your device’s GPS and compass to work out which buildings you are near or pointing at, so it can place estimates in the AR view and on the map. The app does not send your location to us. You can turn location off at any time: on iPhone in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services; on Android in Settings → Location or App permissions. The AR and “nearby” features will then stop working.
Camera. With your permission, the app uses the live camera feed only to display the AR view. It is processed on your device in real time and is not recorded, saved, or sent anywhere.
Account (optional). You can sign in with Apple, with Google, or with an email address and password. Accounts are run on Google Firebase (Google LLC): Firebase Authentication holds your email address, your name if Apple or Google shares it, a user ID created for the account, the sign-in method, and account creation and last sign-in dates. With Sign in with Apple you can hide your email, and Apple then gives us a private relay address. Email passwords are handled by Firebase and stored hashed; we never see them. Your watchlist (the IDs of the buildings you saved, and when you saved them) is stored with your account in Cloud Firestore so it syncs between your devices, and only you can read it.
Subscriptions and purchases. Purchases are handled by the Apple App Store on iPhone and Google Play Billing on Android. We never receive your card details. We use RevenueCat, Inc. to manage and verify subscription status. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user identifier (or, if you are signed in, your account’s user ID, so your subscription follows your account), the product purchased, purchase and renewal dates, subscription status, store country, and your device platform and operating-system version.
Maps. The map is provided by Apple Maps on iPhone and Google Maps on Android. The map provider receives the requests needed to display the map (such as the area shown and your IP address) under its own privacy policy.
App updates. Expo (650 Industries, Inc.) delivers app updates. Update requests include technical information such as the app version, platform, and IP address.
On-device settings. Your onboarding status and Demo Mode setting are stored only on your device. Your watchlist is stored on your device, and also with your account while you are signed in.
External links. The “Open on Bayut” and “Open on Property Finder” buttons open third-party websites with their own privacy policies. We are not affiliated with them.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
- AR, map and search features: your consent, given through your device permissions. You can withdraw it at any time.
- Subscriptions: necessary to perform the contract you enter into when you subscribe.
- Account and watchlist sync: necessary to provide the account you choose to create.
- Security, updates and legal compliance: our legal obligations and our legitimate interest in keeping the app safe and working.
We do not use your data for automated decisions with legal effects on you, or to build advertising profiles.
Sharing
We share data only with the service providers the app needs: Apple (iPhone), Google (Android, Google sign-in, and Firebase for accounts), RevenueCat (subscriptions) and Expo (updates), and only as far as necessary. We may disclose data where required by the laws of the United Arab Emirates. We do not sell personal data.
International transfers
Our service providers process data outside the United Arab Emirates, including in the United States (Google Firebase, RevenueCat, Expo, and Apple or Google as applicable). We rely on these providers’ contractual and security safeguards for these transfers, in line with UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on the Protection of Personal Data.
Retention
On-device data stays until you delete the app. Account data stays until you delete your account: Profile → Delete account deletes your sign-in account and your cloud watchlist straight away (copies in Google’s backups expire on Google’s schedule). Deleting the account does not cancel a subscription; cancel it in your App Store or Google Play settings. RevenueCat keeps subscription records as long as needed for billing, fraud prevention and legal requirements. Expo keeps update logs under its own retention policy.
Your rights
Under the UAE Personal Data Protection Law (and the GDPR, if you are in the European Union), you can ask to access, correct, erase, restrict or port your personal data, object to its processing, and withdraw your consent. Email contact@dubairelator.com. You can delete your account yourself in the app (Profile → Delete account). If you have no account, we may ask for your App Store or Google Play order ID to find your subscription records. We reply within the period required by applicable law, normally within 30 days. You can also complain to the UAE Data Office.
Children
DubaiRelator is for adults (18+) and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect children’s personal data.
All prices, rents and yields in the app are estimated from area averages, not building-specific data. They are for information only, are not official valuations, are not sourced from the Dubai Land Department or RERA, and should not be relied on for financial, legal or purchasing decisions. Always confirm figures with a licensed professional or an official source. DubaiRelator is not affiliated with the Dubai Land Department, RERA, Bayut or Property Finder.
Data sources
Building data © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License (ODbL). We publish the building dataset used by the app at dubairelator.com/data.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will change the “Last updated” date above and tell you in the app about material changes.
Language
This policy is available in Arabic and English, and both versions have the same effect. If they differ, the Arabic version prevails where UAE law requires it.
